The Village Butcher














George Racicot, the previous owner of the Village Butcher Shop, started cutting meat as an apprentice to his father, Herve, in 1957 while working at Houghton's Red & White. For close to 50 years, George and his wife Linda owned and operated The Village Butcher Shop in the heart of downtown Woodstock. 


In 2021, George and Linda sold the business to Cristy and Alex Beram, and are now enjoying a well-earned retirement. Staying on as head butcher is Josh Coyle, who worked alongside George for over 20 years. A trip to the shop should always include a sampling of Josh’s delicious smoked goods, pulled pork, pepperoni, and kielbasa.


The tradition of this small family business is still very much alive and well in Woodstock, as Cristy’s mother will join the team as the head baker. She will be in charge of continuing on beloved sweets such as the famous Cheddar Cheese Rolls as well as brownies, lemon squares, cookies, and more.
